The Himalayan Exploration and Archaeological Research Team
The Himalayan Exploration and Archaeological Research Team is a joint scientific-humanitarian venture run out of the Department of Archaeology, at the University of York. The project operates in partnership with the charity and NGO Community Action Nepal [reg: 1067772] and seeks to push the frontiers of archaeological and heritage knowledge in the Himalayas, whilst integrating the research with initiatives that stimulate local economies. Community Action Nepal provide a proven infrastructure to identify known but at risk heritage for responsive research, whilst HEART’s objectives to explore, survey and excavate archaeology using the latest scientific and technological methods will further extend Nepal’s potential to offer exciting heritage tourism opportunities. HEART is a research group that runs a range of archaeological, heritage, museum, ethnography and anthropology research projects.
